Michigan Chronicle 2020 Women of Excellence Nominations
The Michigan Chronicle is accepting nominations for the 2020 Women of Excellence. For over a decade, the Michigan Chronicle has celebrated African American women who inspire their community through leadership, commitment to excellence and community service. Now in its 13th year, 50 new women will join the illustrious network of metro Detroit’s trailblazers and decision makers.
“The Women of Excellence awards recognize the women in our community who find opportunities in opposition and push the limits on what was previously thought possible,” says Hiram E. Jackson, publisher of the Michigan Chronicle. “It is our privilege to recognize their commitment to the region and celebrate them for being an unyielding force for our community.”
The Michigan Chronicle hosts an annual awards program to publicly celebrate the women selected and every year it grows exponentially. The 2019 Women of Excellence program boasts the largest participation thus far, receiving over 750 nominations, culminating in an event with over 600 guests in attendance.
“The women on our list are nominated by the community,” says Jackson, “If you know a woman who has made an extraordinary difference in our community, I encourage you to nominate her for consideration.”
The criteria for nomination are as follows:
- Local African American woman executive or business owner.
- Proven success within her profession or industry.
- Positive role model whose contributions encourage others.
- Active in community service or organizational involvement.
The submission deadline is Friday, December 20, 2019.
